“Rhyming on another artists beat is never an easy task! With that said rhyming on arguably the most important record Kanye West has made since he released Jesus Walks in 2004, is something I knew would be extremely difficult to pull off! Sure there are lots of freestyles on the POWER instrumental… (I digress lol) From the moment I heard it, I realized it was going to be one of those beats that every rapper and their mother would feel they could add something to. However I have rule when taking on such a feat, it’s to either try and out due the artist on their own song (which is usually next to impossible) or bring some type of different element to the song in some way shape or form to make the song my own and couple that with my own talent!
I wanted to make a statement with “Must Be Heard! I wanted to exude confidence without sounding overly cocky! I wanted to showcase lyrics without truing into 32 bars of just punch lines. I wanted, that when people heard it if they were hearing me for the first time that they would not only feel what I was saying but also feel the hunger of someone really just wanting the opportunity to “Be Heard”…”

Hailing from Toronto’s East End (Scarborough), YOUnited puts on an annual youth arts showcase [Scarborough Fresh Fair] which spotlights up and coming talent from Scarborough. Along with a main stage for young talent, YOUnited pushes to erase the negative stigma that is associated with Scarborough, proving that the negatives should not overpower the positives that come out of the community. The celebration does not end there, YOUnited puts on a 2 day event with the Youth Film Festival on Friday September 10th, 2010 and the Scarborough Fresh Fair on Saturday September 11th.
